Each piece of the Chakra Series begins by holding an elevated feeling or hope in mind, often in connection with an area of the body I wish to heal or bring a sense of awareness to, while still allowing the interplay of paint, movement and water on canvas, resulting in a spontaneous ground. I enjoy being surprised by what transpires here and this sets the stage for the rest of the painting. A tapestry-like image develops later, puzzling out the layered image as I go.
